Budget & Federal Programs

  • The Budget / Federal Program Department is responsible for the District's compliance with the District's legal appropriations/budget. After the Annual Budget is approved by the Board of Education and beginning the first business day, initial budgets are loaded for academic sites and administrative departments. Federal Programs generally have initial budgets loaded based on prior year activities with final budgets loaded upon SDE approval. If budget is not available in an object code, budget transfers can be requested in order for requisitions to be processed. All sites are encouraged to monitor budgets and availability by processing goods receipts and closing completed purchase orders timely.

Oklahoma City Public Schools adopted the School District Budget Act (Section 5-150 et seq. of Title 70) on June 4, 2001.

The Budget/Federal Program Department is responsible for the District's compliance with the District's legal appropriations. An Annual Budget Proposal is submitted for Board Approval during the month of June for the next fiscal year starting July 1. After legal public hearing and Board approval, the budget is filed with the State Auditor. Beginning the first business day after the Board has approved the budget, initial budgets are loaded for academic sites and administrative departments. Federal Programs generally have initial budgets loaded based on prior year activities with final budgets loaded upon SDE approval. All sites are encouraged to manage department budgets and availability by encumbering known costs, processing purchase order goods receipts and timely closing completed purchase orders.

In addition, Federal Program Budgets are loaded into SAP and Federal Claims for Reimbursement are generated to ensure timely reimbursement of qualified expenses.
