August 18, 2021 Message from McDaniel | COVID-19 Vaccine and Testing for OKCPS Students and Staff
OKCPS Families and Staff,
OKCPS continues to do everything in our power to maintain a safe learning and work environment. In addition to the mask requirement and other layers of safety we have put in place, OKCPS is pleased to be able to offer COVID-19 testing, as well as access to the COVID-19 vaccine for our students and staff.
OKCPS COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics
In the coming weeks, OKCPS will host COVID-19 vaccination clinics at all of our middle and high schools, which will allow our students who are interested in receiving the vaccine to be fully vaccinated by Fall Break. This vaccine opportunity is made possible through a partnership with the Oklahoma City-County Health Department (OCCHD).
Consent Forms: Students under the age of 18 must obtain consent from a parent or guardian. Forms may be downloaded and printed at home, or families may obtain a printed copy from your child’s school if you don’t have access to a printer.

As a reminder, because we continue to believe vaccination is a key mitigation strategy that is in the best interest of OKCPS students and staff, a one-time stipend of $1,000 will be provided to all district staff members who choose to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. District employees will be asked to complete an online verification form no later than November 15th in order to receive an incentive on their March 2022 paycheck.
OKCPS COVID-19 Testing
Along with access to the vaccine, OKCPS will continue to offer free in-house COVID-19 testing to our students and staff via the BinaxNOW Rapid Testing Kits.

OKCPS COVID-19 Reporting
As a reminder, we ask our families and employees to closely monitor themselves for possible symptoms. If you or your child are feeling ill, please stay home.
OKCPS has developed a “Quick Guide: Exposure and Reporting” to help staff and families understand what they need to do after testing positive or being exposed to COVID-19.
How to report a positive test or symptoms:
- Families should report a positive COVID-19 test result, or symptoms to their child’s school who can provide further instructions or guidance.
- A student who tests positive or is symptomatic regardless of vaccination status will be required to stay home for a time period based on current CDC guidelines.
- A student who is identified as a close contact will be asked to stay home based on current CDC guidelines. Students should monitor for symptoms, wear a mask, and get tested 5 days after exposure regardless of vaccination status.
- Staff members should report a positive COVID-19 test result or symptoms to their supervisor who can provide further instructions or guidance.
- A staff member who tests positive or is symptomatic regardless of vaccination status, will be required to stay home for a time period based on current CDC guidelines.
- A staff member who is identified as a close contact will be asked to stay home, monitor for symptoms, and get tested 5 days after exposure regardless of vaccination status.
- Please note: COVID-19 leave is no longer an option; and if required to isolate, staff can use any available leave they have.
As always, OKCPS is grateful to our incredible staff members and public health partners who are working to make testing and vaccination available. Let’s all continue to do our part to keep our kids healthy and learning together in our buildings!
