Final Path Recommendation Presentation - Presented to Board of Education, February 22, 2019

OKCPS Families, Staff & Community,

This is an historic day for OKCPS and for our city.  After more than a year of planning, listening to our community, analyzing data, and learning, I am honored to report that tonight our Board of Education unanimously approved the Pathway To Greatness recommendation. 

“Throughout this process, our Board has remained focused on making decisions that would move OKCPS forward so that we can provide access to a world class education for every student -- regardless of their zip code. We are deeply grateful to our superintendent, his team and the many engaged members of our community who have invested countless hours redesigning OKCPS for the future. While we are excited to move forward, the Board is aware of concerns regarding the implementation of such a large initiative, and we are prepared to closely monitor progress and hold district leaders accountable for its success. It is time to roll up our sleeves and work together to implement the Pathway To Greatness. Our kids deserve it.” - Paula Lewis, Board Chair

Although hard decisions have been made and there is still much to do, I am more confident than ever that this work is necessary to improve the health of the entire OKCPS system and to achieve our mission of preparing every student to graduate ready to fulfill their unique purpose in a healthy, vibrant community.

Today is the first of many important and exciting steps on our district’s Pathway to Greatness. The Board and I look forward to taking this journey with you.
