National Payroll Specialist Week: September 3-7
I AM #TEAMOKCPS: ERIC BELONGA
As we celebrate National Payroll Specialist Week, we’d like to thank Eric Belonga, who has been with
OKCPS for over 20 years! Unlike many people, Eric, who went to school in New Orleans, LA, says he has
loved numbers and math since he was a kid—a passion that later evolved into having a professional
career in finances.
What is the best part of your job?
“The best part of my job is taking care of employees with questions about their pay, and helping them
understand how it works.”
What is the hardest part of your job?
“I would say speaking in a language that they understand, not everyone can speak ‘payroll’ or numbers”
You get a lot of phone calls transferred to you, what do people mostly ask about?
“Most people call because they do not understand the ins and outs of their pay—which I am happy to
help them with.”
Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies you pursue in your free time?
“I do counseling with kids about their future plans. I'm also an active member of the Buffalo Soldiers
Motorcycle Club, attempting to keep the history alive and thriving. Also, I am very active in my Church.”
What is your favorite movie/TV show?
“My favorite movies are The Temptations, which is about a singing group, and the movie 300. My
favorite TV show is Little Big Shots.”
If a genie would grant you any three wishes, what would you wish for?
“First, I’d wish to have the ability to get every home working with that school district for the success of
their students. Second, I’d ask for a Can-Am Spyder Motorcycle 2018 RT- Limited Blue in color. And last, I
would ask for a 54 inch zero turn Kawasaki lawn mower and other lawn equipment, so I can continue to
teach kids how to make money when school is out.”
