OKCPS Celebrates Grand Opening of Performing Arts Center at Star Spencer High School
Friday, members of the OKCPS leadership team and Spencer community leaders came together for a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open the newly renovated Star Spencer Performing Arts Center. Attendees heard comments from school principal Michael Harris; assistant principal Rodney Cox; Rand Elliott, president of Rand Elliott Architects; Charmin Williams, Vice-Mayor City of Spencer; Paula Lewis, OKCPS Board Chair and Dr. Jamie Polk, OKCPS Superintendent. Members of the audience were also treated to a tour of the new facility. Student performances that will take place in this space include band, dance, stomp, theater, and much more.
"As the district 5 Board Member, it is incredibly rewarding to witness the opening of the Star Spencer Performing Arts Center. This facility not only represents a significant investment in our students' futures but also reaffirms our district’s commitment to nurturing the diverse talents of our young people. The arts play a crucial role in the development of creativity, discipline, and teamwork—qualities that will serve our students well throughout their lives,” said Mike Shelton, OKCPS Board Member. “I am deeply grateful to everyone involved in making this vision a reality, from the architects and builders to the educators and community leaders who have supported this project every step of the way. I look forward to seeing the incredible performances that our students will bring to this stage, and I am confident that this center will be a source of pride for the Star Spencer community for years to come.”
