OKCPS Superintendent Responds to Chauvin Trial

"On the heels of today’s verdict, I want to reiterate OKCPS’ commitment to equity and to the work that must be done to root out practices stemming from implicit bias, prejudice, and discrimination. Each day our educators provide a safe space for students, staff and families to process, share, reflect, and learn as our nation wrestles with a number of complicated but important social justice issues. We know that true justice is more than a single verdict on a single day. It does not heal the deep wounds of systemic racism nor does it end the conversation that desperately needs to continue. I believe deeply that our diversity is what makes OKCPS strong and I challenge each of us to continue doing the difficult and courageous work that is necessary to bring about the social transformation we all desire -- and that all children deserve. Our journey continues."
