How to Use Homeroom
RESPECT YOUR COLLEAGUES
Homeroom is a platform to connect and work together. Make sure you conduct yourself as you would in a face-to-face conversation.
USE HOMEROOM AS A WORK TOOL
Homeroom is for working on projects and with teams within the District. Maintain work etiquette while using Homeroom.
CREATE AND JOIN GROUPS
Use Suggested Groups to discover and join groups once you get started. You can also create a new group and pin a post explaining the group’s purpose. Choose a group based on your target audience.
TAKE PART IN DISCUSSION AND WORK OUT LOUD
Homeroom is all about collaboration. “Work out loud” by asking questions and offering knowledge to anyone in the organization.
TAG COLLEAGUES IN IMPORTANT POSTS
Loop in coworkers by tagging them in a post or comment. Tagging coworkers on Homeroom keeps the entire team involved and informed.
MOVE INTERNAL COMMUNICATION TO HOMEROOM
Homeroom is perfect for team and project coordination, cross-functional collaboration, and sharing. Move all internal communications, where appropriate, to ensure we all learn and benefit.
Customize your notification settings for groups and posts to make sure you know what’s happening in your work location and don’t miss important team or project updates.
SHARE AND COLLABORATE ON DOCUMENTS
Create and upload files in groups to collaborate with your coworkers.

How NOT to Use Homeroom
DON’T USE HOMEROOM AS SOCIAL MEDIA
Homeroom is not to be used as social media. It is a collaboration tool. Refrain from posting non-work-related comments, documents, photos, etc.
DON’T SHARE SENSITIVE INFORMATION
Before sharing something sensitive or confidential, consider the group’s permissions and members. A closed group is great for sharing to a specific audience.
NOT FOR PUBLIC USE
Homeroom is an internal collaboration tool. Information, comments, and documents are for internal use only. Only OKCPS employees have access to Homeroom.
NEVER SHARE YOUR USERNAME OR PASSWORD
Homeroom is accessed by using your OKCPS single sign on username and password. Never share your login information since it is the same username/password used to access other OKCPS tools.
DON’T BE MEAN, KEEP IT PROFESSIONAL ALWAYS
All comments are recorded and archived. Always respond with the utmost respect and courtesy to your colleagues. Refrain from foul, rude, or disrespectful language.
NEVER COMPROMISE CHILD SAFETY
Our students’ safety is priority number one! Homeroom should never distract you from your responsibility to student safety.
