Library Databases

  • The mission of the library media program is to help students develop into lifelong learners. This mission is accomplished by providing opportunities for learning that instill a love of reading, promote the use of technology, and develop the ability to find, evaluate, and use information.

    Remember the DATABASES!
    OKCPS provides these databases for your research and information needs. There are two pathways to access them:
    1. Log in to Clever and go to Library Resources
    2. On the Library Media Center Home page, click on the yellow Destiny Digital Library button. Find our school and click on it. The Research Links are located in the left-hand column.

    1. Destiny Library Manager / Click on the Catalog tab

    Sign in with OKCPS Google account. Destiny is OKCPS’s library media center collections. Find and borrow books & other materials from your school library and all other OKCPS libraries!

    2. Destiny WebPath Express / Click on the Catalog tab / Click on WebPath Express

    Sign in with OKCPS Google account.
    Destiny WebPath Express is a database of over 73,000, curriculum related Web sites, hand-picked by educators, verified for accuracy and objectivity, and tagged with a grade level range.

    3. World Book Online

    Logging in from home? Find the username and password on Clever or on the Research Resources Guide PDF above.

    World Book Online is praised for appropriateness at all grade levels. The World Book Web is a suite of online research tools that includes encyclopedia articles, primary source collections, educator tools, student activities, pictures, audio, and video, complemented by current periodicals and related Web sites. It contains World Book Student / World book Advanced / World Book Kids

    4. TeachingBooks.net

    Ask school librarian for password.
    TeachingBooks.net is an online collection of K-12 multimedia author and book resources.
    Author Programs / Book Guides / Book Readings / Thematic Booklists / Book Awards

    5. Discovery Education streaming

    Sign in through your Google Drive.  Once your Google drive is open, open another window, type google.discoveryeducation.com.
    Discovery Education streaming has 5,000 full-length videos segmented into 41,000 content-specific clips tied directly to state and national standards.

    6. EBSCO 

    EBSCOHost is a clearinghouse of several searchable academic databases for K-12. Use Explora for general research searches or use a resource center for more specialized results. Results included full-text articles, periodicals, reference materials, videos, ebooks, and other resource materials. Sign in with your SSO to save search results and/or materials which can also be sent to your Google Drive or NoodleTools. 

    Logging in from home? Signing in with your SSO takes you straight to Explora. The user name a password posted in Clever or on the Research Resources Guide will open up the entire menu.

    7. GALE

    The High School in Context academic database provides full-text articles, periodicals, videos, and other resource materials. GALE eBooks provides academic ebooks on a variety of topics. Sign in with your SSO (Google) to save search results and/or materials, which can also be sent to your Google Drive or NoodleTools.

    8. JSTOR Open Access

    This database provides free access to hundreds of academic materials, including Open Access Journals, Open Access Books, Research Reports, and Images and Media. Register for a free account to access the materials and save citations.
