    Vision Statement:

Southern Hills Elementary will challenge and prepare individual students for the future with rigorous tasks and standards-based lessons.  Faculty and staff will collaborate and communicate to lead students to progress and increased autonomy of their learning.

    Vision of Instruction:
At Southern Hills Elementary School, the nine elements of instruction will be implemented and provide a rigorous framework for Standards Based Instruction following the Oklahoma Academic Standards. These instructional elements will be discussed in PLC’s, staff meetings, and team planning meetings, as well as reinforced to staff through the principal’s weekly updates.

Assessments will be developed by grade level teams using district resources, such as, but not limited to, Mastery Connect and district-provided curriculum. Assessments will occur at the beginning and end of units and will be designed to focus on depth of knowledge. Results will be utilized for data analysis and to inform further instruction. Assessment results will be shared with staff during PLC’s. Results will be used to determine which students might need small group intervention or enrichment.

Instructional data will be tracked through pre- and post-assessments. The data will be analyzed by administrators, teachers, and students. Data will be distributed and recorded through data notebooks.

Instruction will be adjusted based on administrative notes and iObservation. Summative data will be used to determine small group interventions and enrichment as well as any area of the standard that needs to be retaught. Formative assessments will help teachers to tailor instruction to focus on the areas of the standard that still need to be addressed.

The school vision will be shared with staff through the principal’s weekly update. A common language among staff will be developed and used through professional emails and the weekly update as well as in PLC’s and staff meetings.
The implementation of the vision should be reflected in each teacher’s lesson plans and observed by classroom visitors.
