• Elementary Counselors

School counselors are an important part of an elementary school.  They provide assistance to students who are in need of academic, social or emotional support.  School counselors spend most of their time providing direct support to students and families.  Oklahoma City Public Schools recognizes their importance and has taken great steps in providing a minimum of one full-time counselor in every elementary school.  Many schools have a part-time counselor also available to support students.

With the implementation of EmbraceOKC, elementary counselors are in classrooms providing direct classroom instruction in social emotional curriculum, Second Step.  Within the Second Step program, students will learn how to manage their emotions, solve problems and become more resilient.

To learn more about Second Step, please contact your child's school and visit with the counselor.

If you need to contact a School Counselor, please call 405-587-6500.
