Raising a Reader
We have a lending program called Raising A Reader which starts the first Tuesday after Fall Parent Conferences. We are very pleased to have the opportunity to bring this exciting program to your family and encourage you to participate in this reading adventure.
Raising A Reader is a take-home book bag program for families of children in PK through second grade. Each week your family will receive a beautiful red canvas book bag filled with four children’s books for you to share with your child. The following week you will return the books and book bags and receive another set of new books to enjoy. The collection of books includes bilingual Spanish and English books.
The goal of Raising A Reader is to promote early learning family experiences which help to prepare children for later success in school. Reading to children helps them become better listeners, learn new words and build their understanding of the world they live in. By participating in Raising A Reader, your child will fall in love with the joy of sharing a book with his/her family.
Please help our program by caring for the beautiful books so that other children and families can enjoy them next year.
How it Works:
- Students will receive a RaR (Raising a Reader) Book Bag every Tuesdays.
- Students will read books inside the bag every night (preferably with a parent/guardian).
- Students will return the RaR Book Bag on Monday.
- Repeat the process.
Please contact Mrs. Nguyen, Library Media Specialist, with questions or concerns.
Thank you and Happy Reading!
