September 16, 2022 | Message From McDaniel: Bond Webpage and Community Meetings

OKCPS Families, Staff and Community,

We are excited to launch our Building the Future webpage where you can find everything you need to know about the district’s bond proposal. Building the Future is an investment plan that will impact every current and future student within the OKCPS district.

The focus of the bond package is to create additional and enhance existing opportunities for current and future OKCPS students by elevating our focus on workforce development and college readiness. OKCPS students deserve the same 21st century learning facilities and opportunities as their peers in neighboring districts.

A few features of the website include:

  • Who Can Vote?

    • Individuals who are American citizens can enter their address to determine if they are eligible to vote on November 8th regarding the OKCPS bond propositions.

  • Projects by School

    • Each school has a document that outlines the projects proposed for that school. Also included are the district-wide impacts as well as the projects for the school within the feeder pattern. It’s important for families to review the projects for the schools their students will attend in the next four years to understand the impact the bond could have on their child.

  • Calendar of Important Dates

    • Dates of upcoming community meetings, deadline to register to vote and early voting information.

Voter Registration Opportunities

In partnership with Generation Citizen, OKCPS is hosting a voter registration drive on Tuesday, September 20th from 10:30am - 1:30pm at the Clara Luper Center for Educational Services, 615 N Classen Blvd. Volunteers from Generation Citizen will be available to assist anyone who wishes to register to vote.

Additionally, Generation Citizen is working with all 12 OKCPS high schools to offer voter registration for our students who are 17 ½ or older and any staff or community member who wishes to register. Voter registration tables and volunteers will be available during the lunch hour at each high school.

The next several months will be an exciting and busy time for OKCPS. We hope that you will consider joining us for one of the community meetings to learn more about our proposed bond projects. Building the Future has the potential to be transformational for OKCPS and Oklahoma City.
