February 23 - OKCPS International Travel Guidelines for COVID-19
OKCPS Families,
With Spring Break approaching, OKCPS realizes that our families may be considering travel outside the United States. OKCPS discourages international travel by our staff members, students and their families based on the current guidance outlined by the CDC. However, if you must travel, please review the CDC’s guidelines about traveling: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/notices.
With this in mind, we want to share some important information on Current Travel Restrictions & Quarantine Guidance:
- Travel increases your chances of getting and spreading COVID-19. The CDC recommends that you do not travel at this time, especially to destinations with a Level 4 Advisory which indicates a very high level of COVID-19 transmission.
- If you do choose to travel internationally, please be aware of the following:
- You should get tested 3–5 days after you return AND plan to stay home to self-quarantine for 7 days after travel. If you don't get tested, it's safest to stay home to self-quarantine for 10 days.
OKCPS students will not be allowed to return to school for in-person learning or extracurricular activities until after they have had a negative test (taken 3-5 days after returning from your trip) OR until after they have completed the required 10 day self-quarantine period.
- Students can and are encouraged to participate in remote learning options during their self-quarantine period. Families should work with your child’s teacher and/or school regarding the remote learning options available.
- Families should report travel for students by calling your child’s school. Once you provide the date that you return home from your trip, the school can tell you when your child is eligible to return to in-person learning.
The health and safety of our students, their families and our staff are a top priority and we know that our ability to return to campus and stay there is ultimately based on the choices that we make as a community. So, let’s all continue to do our part.
Thank you for your ongoing support of OKCPS.
OKCPS Staff,
With Spring Break approaching, OKCPS realizes that our families and staff may be considering travel outside the United States. OKCPS employees will not be allowed to return to work, in any capacity, until they have had a negative test and self-quarantine for 7 days OR, absent a post-travel test, have completed the required full 10 day self-quarantine period.
- Staff may use vacation, personal business or sick leave for this isolation period.
- If you don’t have leave available, you will be required to use unpaid leave.
- Employees should report international travel to their immediate supervisor in writing prior to traveling, including the country and date of return to Oklahoma. If the date of return changes, the employee should immediately send written notification to his or her immediate supervisor. Failure to report international travel is a violation of our Health and Safety protocols and may result in disciplinary action.
A similar message is being shared with OKCPS families. Guidance for students is listed below.
