August 12, 2024 | Message to Families: The Night Before the First Day of School

OKCPS Families,

We’re eagerly counting down the hours until we welcome our students back tomorrow, August 13th, for the first day of school! Across the district, students and teachers are busy packing their backpacks, laying out their outfits, and eagerly anticipating the start of a fantastic school year.

As we prepare for an exciting first day, we invite all our families to unwind with a heartwarming bedtime story. Dr. Polk has chosen “A Letter From Your Teacher on the First Day of School” by Shannon Olsen to mark this special occasion. This story beautifully captures our enthusiasm for the upcoming school year and the joy of welcoming our students back!

We also want to thank Ms. Shannon Olsen for granting us permission to share her story for our virtual storytime reading!
