4/7/2020: The district will be closed for one day on Friday, April 10
#OKCPS Families: The district will be closed for one day on Friday, April 10. However, OKCPS Meal & Instructional Packet Pick-Up sites will re-open on Monday, April 13.
---------
It's almost hard to think about life before COVID-19, isn't it? But, before this public health crisis took over the headlines and changed how we live and do business, OKCPS school sites were slated to be closed for students and teachers on Friday, April 10.
Realizing how much we have all been dealing with over the past few weeks and understanding the importance of practicing self-care, I have made the decision to close the entire district on Friday, April 10. This will mean that no staff will report work. Instead, I want you to spend this time focusing on yourself and your family and reflecting on the many things we have to be thankful for even in these challenging times.
Please note that closing the district will also mean that OKCPS Meal Pick-Up sites will be closed on Friday, April 10. This will be a ONE DAY closure of the district on Friday, April 10. Then, our Continuous Learning Program activities and our Meal Pick-Up Sites will resume on Monday, April 13. This will allow our amazing School Nutrition Serves (SNS) teams to take a break after already serving more than 180,000 meals in just 9 days! We hope our families will understand, as they lean on some of our amazing community partners who continue to provide resources when we are unable.
Thank you for all you've done and continue to do for OKCPS. I hope you will enjoy this much-deserved break.
Sincerely,
Dr. Sean McDaniel
Superintendent of Schools
