Message from Principal Farley Regarding School Safety

Roosevelt Middle School Families,

Over the weekend, one of our students was injured in an incident involving a firearm. The incident happened outside of school hours and off district property. The student is currently being treated at a local hospital and is expected to recover.

With heightened sensitivities around school safety, we felt it was important to inform you of the incident.

Here are some safety reminders for you to share with your student(s).

  • OKCPS takes all threats seriously and any statement that might threaten or imitate a threat to our children is prohibited.
  • Violence of any kind will not be tolerated at school or at school related events.
  • If your student walks to and from school or rides a bus, please remind them to go straight home and to walk in pairs when possible. Also, please remind your child not to talk to strangers and to seek help immediately from a trusted adult if approached by anyone suspicious.

Please rest assured that the safety and security of all OKCPS students is our top priority. You can help by remaining vigilant in your safety practices and reporting any suspicious or threatening behavior directly to the Police, to me or to the OKCPS Security Team by calling our 24 hour hotline at 405-587-SAFE.

Thank you for your continued support of Roosevelt Middle School.
