Dolly Parton's Imagination Library Program
METROPOLITAN LIBRARY SYSTEM PARTNERS WITH DOLLY PARTON’S IMAGINATION LIBRARY PROGRAM TO BRING THE LOVE OF READING TO CHILDREN IN OKLAHOMA COUNTY
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK: The Metropolitan Library System is launching an exciting new program to bring the joy and pride of book ownership to children across Oklahoma County. As affiliates of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, the library is encouraging families in Oklahoma County to sign children ages 0 – 4.11 months up for this book gifting program.
Registering for the program is simple. Parents and caregivers can sign up at supportmls.org/imagination-library. Each month, recipients will receive one age-appropriate, high-quality book each month to start building their own bookshelves to cultivate early literacy skills, school readiness, and a love of reading.
The Dollywood Foundation launched Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to inspire a love of reading and learning in children. Dolly wanted to share her life and legacy as an inspiration to all children to “Dream More, Learn More, Care More and Be More.”
Funding from the Friends of the Metropolitan Library System and the Library Endowment Trust are helping to make this program a success. “We are so grateful to be able to offer this program that helps fulfill our aligned strategies for literacy and community involvement,” said Brent Moss, President of the Friends of the Library.
“This program would not be possible without the support of the Friends of the Library and the Library Endowment Trust,” said Larry Nash White, MLS Executive Director. “Being able to offer it helps us build community and strengthen literacy – and that’s what our libraries are all about.”
About Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library
Since launching in 1995, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library has become the preeminent early childhood book-gifting program in the world. The flagship program of The Dollywood Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has gifted nearly 200 million free books in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, and The Republic of Ireland. The Imagination Library mails more than two million high-quality, age-appropriate books each month to enrolled children from birth to age five. Dolly envisioned creating a lifelong love of reading and inspiring children to dream more, care more, and be more.
