OKCPS Spring Athletics Safety Guidelines
Spring Athletics | Safety Guidelines
As we start the spring athletic season of 2021, Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS) remains committed to protecting the health and safety of all students, spectators and staff . The guidelines listed below will be followed in all OKCPS athletics facilities as we continue our competitive sports programming for the 2020-2021 school year for both Middle School and High School.
- All fans, officials, coaches, and teams will have their temperature checked before being allowed in any facility. All staff who are taking temperatures will be wearing a mask and gloves.
- Masks or face coverings are required for all participants, coaches, workers, police, officials, patrons or anyone entering any Oklahoma City Public Schools Athletics facility. Refusal to wear a mask or face covering will prevent admittance into the facility.
- All patrons shall exercise social distancing procedures while in the athletics facilities and sit in designated seating areas.
- Due to social distancing protocols some athletics venues may have limited seating capacity. This capacity is subject to change.
Soccer and Track | Stadiums: 25% capacity
- Taft: 1,750
- Speegle: 1,500
- Miller: 625
- Twidwell: 250
Baseball, Tennis and Golf: Please follow social distancing guidelines. Masks or face coverings must be worn at all times while in attendance of an event. No mask, no entry.
- Outdoor venues will have some seating areas marked off as unavailable. Please refrain from sitting in these areas to help us keep everyone safe.
- If any OKCPS teams have COVID related issues, the site Athletic Director will send the home Athletics Director a statement regarding the health status of the team.
- Athletic Trainers from both schools need to communicate prior to the contest about any special arrangement that needs to be made by the home team.
- Sportsmanship is paramount to the development of young people. However, at this time, we will recommend no hand shaking between opposing teams, both before and after games, to reduce contact as much as possible.
- For Participants, Officials, and Coaches: There will be no shared towels, clothing, shoes, water bottles, or equipment. Individual student athletes and coaches are to bring their own water bottles to the venue.
- Locker Rooms will be accessible to teams only for pregame or half time, but we ask visiting teams to please come dressed and ready to participate for the event.
- Masks will be required on the sideline, in the locker rooms, athletic training rooms, coaches’ offices and any area considered outside of the playing field or court.
- All shared equipment will be sanitized periodically during the contest.
- Only pre-approved personnel will be allowed in the press box or at the scorer’s table. Visiting teams will need to contact the site Athletics Director for scorer tables or press box personnel accommodations.
- OKCPS will not have any concessions at any venues. We will supply each fan a bottle of water.
