January 11, 2024 |OKCPS Students and Staff Prep for Winter Weather

OKCPS Families,

A significant arctic blast, with possible precipitation, is expected to arrive in the metro over the weekend and linger into next week. The dangerously low temps predicted may require OKCPS to shift our entire district to virtual learning.

Although it is still too early for us to make any final decisions, we would like our families and staff to be prepared for all students to learn from home in the event we shift to remote learning.

  • Elementary students can use the “choice boards” linked on the “Learning During a Weather Day” website.

  • Secondary students can access Canvas to complete lessons and activities provided by their teachers.

All information related to remote learning during a weather day can be found here: www.okcps.org/weatherdaylearning

If you have to be outside during extremely cold temperatures, please make sure you are bundled up. The National Weather Service suggests dressing in layers, including wearing a hat, winter coat and gloves to help protect ourselves from the extreme cold.

As you know, Oklahoma weather can be very unpredictable, so a shift of this kind may not be necessary, but we felt it was important to give you as much notice as possible so you can begin making contingency plans.

OKCPS will continue to closely monitor the situation and will notify you of any changes to learning via our regular communication channels.

Thank you for your continued support of OKCPS.
