OKCPS Announces Changes to District Athletic Programs
OKCPS Staff, Families and Community,
Soon after I was hired nearly one year ago, it became very apparent to me that the district athletic department was understaffed. The demands of athletic department leadership in a district of our size is daunting, even with a full staff. To that end, I am very pleased to inform you that beginning July 1, the OKCPS Board of Education has approved a plan which includes splitting two primary and equally important functions of the department into two separate and distinct departments.
Keith Sinor will now serve as our Director of Athletic Partnerships and Program Support to lead our athletic fundraising, partnership development, and overall program support. Keith has done a sensational job for many years cultivating relationships with partners like Police Athletic League (PAL), Fields and Futures, Cleats4Kids, the Wes Welker Foundation, the Cal Ripken Foundation and many other groups who support our kids and coaches. Our district has benefitted to the tune of several million dollars' worth of direct support thanks to Keith's efforts. We are grateful for his many years of service to OKCPS and look forward to his leadership as he continues to expand support for our elementary schools and connect with partners.
The second big step for OKCPS as we work toward supporting our athletic programs was the hiring of a new district Athletic Director (AD) at last night's board meeting.
I am very excited to introduce Todd Dilbeck as our AD beginning July 1. Todd brings a long history of athletic success to OKCPS having spent time as a head HS football coach, as the AD for multiple districts, and as a member of the Rice University Football staff. Most recently, he has served as an Associate Director for the OSSAA. Todd will be visible in district immediately and I have no doubt he will want to begin meeting with coaches very soon. Please join me in welcoming him to #TeamOKCPS.
I am grateful for talented teammates in our district who are always willing to step in and step up to serve our kids and coaches. I look forward to working with Keith and Todd as we move forward.
Have a great summer.
Sincerely,
Dr. Sean McDaniel
Superintendent of Schools
