July 2, 2020 - Phase I Extended and Modification to Mask Requirement

  • Team OKCPS,

As promised, district leaders met this evening to discuss the current situation and consider input from our local and state health partners. Phase I of our Return to Work Plan will be extended for another week -- through Friday, July 10th.

The health and safety of our staff is a priority and due to the continual daily increase in COVID-19 cases locally and state-wide, we are making a major adjustment to our Return to Work Plan.

All OKCPS employees and visitors are required to wear a fabric or disposable surgical-style face mask covering both nose and mouth at all times (1) when inside OKCPS facilities and vehicles and (2) when outdoors on OKCPS property and social distancing of at least six (6) feet is not possible.

Employees may remove masks only (1) when alone in an enclosed private workspace and (2) while participating in activities in which a face mask cannot practically be worn, such as while eating and drinking. Further, employees may remove face masks when in their own enclosed private workspace, are at least six (6) feet from others, and are not interacting with others.

And again, next week, district leaders will reassess conditions and will provide an update on when we will move into Phase 2 of our Return to Work plan. We will share this information with you by no later than July 10.

In the meantime, please continue with your Phase I schedule or work with your supervisor to adjust your work schedule if necessary. For your convenience, the "Return To Work" Plan, as well as the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) documents are linked below.

As always, safety is our top priority, and OKCPS is committed to taking slow and deliberate steps to bring our employees back to work as safely as possible. Thank you for your incredible flexibility and patience as we continue to navigate these challenges together.

    Stay safe, everyone.

    Dr. Sean McDaniel

Next week, District leaders will reassess conditions and will provide you with an update on when OKCPS will move into Phase 2 of our Return to Work plan. We'll share this information with you by no later than July 3.

Message from McDaniel - OKCPS "Return To Work" Plan

  • Team OKCPS,

On Monday, Oklahoma officially moved into our final phase of reopening as we continue to battle COVID-19 in communities around the world. As promised, OKCPS is taking slow and deliberate steps to bring our employees back to work in an effort to complete the work of the 2019-20 school year and look toward the future.

Although many districts and businesses returned to work on June 1, OKCPS made the decision to wait until June 15 to implement the next phase of our action plan which will bring employees back to work 2 days a week.

Take a moment to carefully review our "Return To Work" Plan, as well as the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) documents. Also, please note that before we return on June 15, all staff will be asked to complete a short training module. Please stay tuned for details.

As always, safety is our top priority, and we thank you for your continued flexibility and patience as our teams work through these challenges together. This "Return To Work" plan is an important step forward as OKCPS continues to prepare for the 2020-21 school year. If you have questions, please reach out to your supervisor.

Stay safe, everyone. I look forward to welcoming you back soon!

    Sincerely,

    Dr. Sean McDaniel
