Shidler Elementary Families,
I wanted to provide you with an update regarding the building issues at Shidler Elementary. In order for the structural issues to be addressed, it would take approximately nine months and during that time, the building could not be occupied. The district is still evaluating whether this costly repair is the best investment option.
As a remainder, for the remainder of the school year, we will continue to function as we are right now. PK students will learn from Shidler Elementary, and all other grades will learn from Adelaide Lee Elementary.
Next school year (2023-2024) all students from both Adelaide Lee and Shidler Elementary will learn together from the Adelaide Lee Elementary campus. The original plan to combine the Adelaide Lee and Shidler communities was in the Fall of 2026 with the opening of a brand new elementary school. We are now expediting the unification of these two communities. It’s important to OKCPS that we try to maintain a stable environment for our students and we don’t believe moving students back and forth between these two campuses is in the best interest of our students. Please note, right now, there is no intention of utilizing the Shidler facility as an elementary school after this school year.
Enrollment for the upcoming school year opens on April 1st. Families will receive information and instructions very soon regarding enrollment for next year.

Quería brindarles una actualización sobre los problemas de construcción en Shidler Elementary. Para solucionar los problemas estructurales, tomaría aproximadamente nueve meses y durante ese tiempo, el edificio no podría ser ocupado.
