Equipment “Update”
I would like to thank
you for the professional dedication demonstrated in completion
of the State of Oklahoma’s Level 2 technology certification as
established in House Bill 1815.
With the completion of this certification
the district is providing you with a state of the art laptop
computer so that you can integrate technology skills into the
classroom. The goal of this program is to get technology in
the hands of our teachers so that they can use it to improve
their teaching experience.
Due to the value of the
laptop and the inherent portability, each teacher must accept
responsibility for the laptop while it is in his or her
possession. You are responsible for insuring that the laptop
is secured at all times. It should not be left unattended in
your classroom. You are responsible for securing the laptop
while on the school grounds (via provided security cable or
behind lock and key) when the laptop is not in your immediate
care. If you choose to leave your laptop at school at night
or on the weekend you should not leave it in a visible
location. If your laptop is properly secured and it is
stolen then YOU ARE NOT responsible for replacing it, however
if it is not secured YOU ARE responsible for replacing it.
You are welcome to take the
laptop home. You are responsible for loss of the
computer when you transport it or use it in your home.
(Your laptop is protected against all damage except for theft
or fire with its extended warranty). Please consult your
homeowners insurance to determine coverage for the equipment
during transit and while it is in your residence. At no
time should the laptop be loaned to another individual without
written permission from the local administrator and the
Information Technology Department.
The laptops have an extended
warranty on them so if the laptop is damaged it will be fixed
under the warranty, just report the problem to the Helpdesk..
The laptop also has a tracking software installed on it
therefore it is important that you file a police report as
soon as the laptop is stolen. A copy of the police report
should be turned into the Information Technology Departments
Asset Management Team. The Asset Team will then start the
tracking to recover the stolen/lost laptop.
The laptop is assigned to you
while you are employed as a teacher with the Oklahoma City
Public School District and will move with you if you move to
another school. The laptop must be returned if you leave a
teaching position or district employment. The laptop must
be returned to the Information Technology Department, and not
to your Principal or any other person, before leaving the
district. The laptop assignment is attached to you personnel
record, your last paycheck will be held if your laptop is not
returned to the Information Technology Department. |
