Instructional Objective  (Measurable Outcome)

 

Students will be able to understand and explain the historical background,

Geographical, cultural and physical environment of the United States and the people that made this country what it is today. the objective of this course is the study of U.S. History from the Civil War to the Present. Each student will recognize events and issues that shape of our lives, and by the end of the school year each student will be able to display knowledge of historical concepts, make evaluations about history and have a greater understanding about their heritage.

 

Instructional  Procedures  (How will you teach , lecture , assignments ,etc.?)

 

Classroom teaching will be based upon lectures , PowerPoint presentation and instructional videos, accurate note taking ,

daily worksheets , board work ,  map work , oral readings from textbook and

current event reports from the Daily Oklahoman ,magazines and other

available materials concerning the United States of America.

 

Content (Course Outline)

 

Each week will try to cover one chapter :

1st quarter-chapters 1 through chapter 5

2nd quarter–chapters 6 through chapter 11

3rd quarter– chapters 12 through 16

4th quarter– chapters 17 through 22

Students will be tested over each chapter covered in class , followed by a

Spelling test

 

Enrichment and Reinforcement (  Reports, projects)

 

Map work projects in and out of class . Articles about the Current events in the U.S.  every two weeks. One history fair research paper .

A current event is due every Friday from a newspaper , magazine or

encyclopedia . (Typed or written in ink.)
