May 24, 2007 Van Buren Students won 1st Place Van Buren 4th and 5th grade students won 1st place in the Greens Country Club Tournament. The program is sponsored by the Police Athletic League.

May 24, 2007 Van Buren's Memorial Marathon... Pictured are 104 of Van Buren's students signed up to run in the Memorial Marathon. They were given 30 days to run 25 miles during their recess. Ten students completed the training while 98 students went to the Marathon to run the last 1.2 miles. WAY TO GO BULLDOGS!

May 14, 2007 Parker News Anchors of Tomorrow
Monday, May 14, 2007, Parker Elementary School presented the "Parker News Anchors of Tomorrow" Program. Parker Junior Affiliate News 42 PARK anchors Silvia Borta, 3rd grader, and Warren Conerly, 5th grader, covered the following news stories:
Ms. Silvia Borta did a live interview with Ms. Tierney Cook from News 5 KOCO and Mr. Michael Jackson, a former instructor at Langston University. PARK's meteorologist, Mr. Joe'l Ortiz, 2nd grader, gave the local weather report and showed on the United States map where some of our balloons, from last month's balloon launch, have been spotted. PARK's camera lady, Rayven Jackson, 3rd grader, filmed the afternoon news program. PARK's news anchors, Miss Silvia Borta, Mr. Warren Conerly and meteorologist, Mr. Joe'l Ortiz were featured this morning, Tuesday, May 15th, on the Eyewitness News 5 Morning News segment with Mr. John Flick, Ms. Tierney Cook and Mr. Rusty McCranie! The students received instruction and coaching in public speaking from Ms. Gray-Martin, Instructional Facilitator. Signing off, News 42 PARK - always striving for EXCELLENCE!
