OKC Arts Spectacular set for June 10

Visual and Performing Arts Showcase to Benefit the Arts in Oklahoma City Public Schools

Oklahoma City – Coming to Oklahoma City to reignite the energy for arts education in Oklahoma City Public Schools, music legend Jimmy Webb and many others will headline the 8th annual OKC Arts Spectacular, Sunday, June 10. Corporate acts will include Cliff Hudson and the Sonic Tones, Burns Hargis of Bank of Oklahoma, Stan Hupfeld representing INTEGRIS Health and many more.

            Applauding arts education in Oklahoma City Public Schools, business and civic leaders from around the community will take to the stage, and the entire Oklahoma City community is invited to enjoy the show at Stage Center, 400 West Sheridan.

            Co-chaired by Susan McCalmont and Pam Newby, the event will begin at 6 p.m. with a Visual Art Exhibition and Sale. Showtime is 7 p.m. headed by Masters of Ceremonies, Kevin Ogle and Meg Alexander of Oklahoma’s News Channel 4.  

            Benefiting the Foundation’s Arts Education Fund for OKC Public Schools, talented performers will entertain audience members with vocal solos and duets, piano performances, band and orchestra concert pieces, unique dance numbers, comedy and much more. The Arts Education Fund focuses on improving arts curriculum for students in the OKC Public Schools. To date, more than $350,000 has been raised through OKC Arts Spectacular.

 

Talent Lineup

            The talent lineup will showcase everything from country music greats to vocal solos and duets and Big Band numbers. Orchestra specials, piano performances and a slice of comic relief will also be enjoyed. Several on-stage acts will include:

•           Oklahoma’s own and celebrity songwriter, Jimmy Webb

            •           Extreme cyclist, Mat Hoffman

•           Cliff Hudson, President and CEO, Sonic, America’s Drive-In

•           Burns Hargis, Vice-Chairman, Bank of Oklahoma

•           Stan Hupfeld, President and CEO, INTEGRIS Health

•           Performances by Ballet Oklahoma, Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education,

                        and United Way of Metro Oklahoma City

•           Student performances by Lyric Academy

•           Corporate performances by American Fidelity, BancFirst and Chesapeake Energy Corporation

Focusing on Visual Art

            Just prior to show time, patrons can see and purchase outstanding visual art by Oklahoma City community and professional artists during the Visual Art Exhibition and Sale. Featured works will include paintings, wood turnings and sculpture art by Sue Hale, J. Michelle Martin-Coyne, Louisa McCune-Elmore, Betty Price, Judge Ralph Thompson, Jim Bruce and Carl Shortt, to name a few.
