Attendance Changes Underway in John Marshall/Eisenhower Learning Community

Oklahoma City—As the 2005-2006 school year draws to a close, enrollment is already beginning for 2006-2007. Due to MAPS for Kids construction and renovation, many OKCPS students will see changes in where they will attend school next year. Some of the biggest changes will occur in the north Oklahoma City area in the John Marshall High School and New Eisenhower High School learning communities.

To help alleviate some confusion as to where students will attend class, the Oklahoma City Public Schools District is sending word to families on where they should enroll.

Beginning fall 2006; 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th graders living in the new John Marshall attendance zone will attend the new John Marshall High School located at NW 122 and Portland. This includes 6th grade students who would normally attend Ridgeview Elementary School. Classrooms to accommodate these students and administrative areas will be complete.

6th, 7th, 8th and 9th grade students living in the new Eisenhower High School attendance zone will attend school at the current John Marshall High School facility at 9017 N University.

10th, 11th and 12th graders in both John Marshall and Eisenhower High School attendance zones will also attend school at the current John Marshall High School facility at 9017 N University. The upper grades will hold class in a separate wing of the school away from the lower grades.

Because of these changes, all elementary schools in this area will house PK-5th grade. Hoover Middle School will close at the end of this current school year in preparation for renovations needed to house Stonegate School of Advanced Studies students at a later date.
