Veteran’s Day Activities Planned at OKCPS
Oklahoma City
– Several schools in the Oklahoma City Public Schools
District will honor our nation’s service men and women this
Veteran’s Day, Friday November 11.
Four
schools invite media to attend morning assemblies featuring
Veteran’s Day activities:

West
Nichols Hills Elementary at 8400 N Greystone will
hold morning assembly at 9:00 a.m. featuring a
presentation on the armed forces by Army Lt. Col. Chris
Taylor. The fifth grade class will also be presenting
information about the history of America’s soldiers,
sailors, airmen, marines and coastguardsmen. The assembly
also features patriotic songs from the West Nichols Hills
Honor Choir and color guard from the Boy Scouts

Taft
Middle School at 2901 NW 23 will begin the day
with a flag ceremony and school-wide assembly at 9:20 a.m.
The program will include several veteran’s groups who will
also be speaking to social studies classes later in the day.

Southern Hills Elementary at 7800 S Kentucky will
also have a morning assembly at 8:45 a.m. The
school’s Girls Scout troupe will present the colors.
Fourth and fifth
grade students from Edgemere Elementary will be traveling
to Shepherd’s Manor at NW 25 and Western at
9:00a.m. to give a short program and thank the veterans and
the veteran’s families for their service.
