District
Teacher of the Year and His School Treated to Ice Cream
Oklahoma City --
Rewards for effort come in many forms!
On Friday, September 8,
Sanford Jackson, 8th grade teacher at Taft Middle School, will find out that
sometimes rewards come in the form of ice cream! Mr. Jackson was recently
named Oklahoma City Schools District teacher of the year and is now a
regional finalist in the competition for Oklahoma Teacher of the Year. Blue
Bell Creameries will be honoring him by treating the entire student body and
staff at Taft to Blue Bell Ice Cream.
A Blue Bell truck will pull up outside Taft Middle School, 2901 NW 23rd
Street, at 11:15 A.M., and a Blue Bell treat will be given to every student
and staff member at the school.
In addition, Blue Bell will present Mr. Jackson with a cooler full of
his favorite Blue Bell flavor, Rocky Road.
“At Blue Bell, we believe there is no finer work you can do in this
world than be a teacher,” says Paul Kruse, president of Blue Bell
Creameries. “The finalists for Oklahoma Teacher of the Year are among
the most outstanding members of their profession. We are very pleased to
have the opportunity to honor Mr. Jackson for his wonderful work.”
“Sanford’s award is Taft’s award as well,” says Lisa Johnson, Principal
at Taft. “We are very proud to have Mr. Jackson at Taft Middle School and
appreciate Blue Bell including the entire school in the celebration.”
The state teacher of the year winner will be announced at the State Fair
on September 19. The winner will represent Oklahoma in the National Teacher
of the Year competition.
