A Gallery of Self-Esteem on Display at Stonegate
Oklahoma City – As part
of a Great Idea Grant from the Oklahoma City Public Schools
Foundation, students at Stonegate School of Advanced Studies at
2525 NW 112 are unveiling a new art exhibit entitled
“Connections: A Gallery of Healthy Self-Esteem”. The gallery
showcasing the student’s art will be shown Thursday, May 11 at
6:00 p.m.
“This program helps students by giving them a
creative outlet in which to showcase their talents,” says Lory
Turner, counselor at Stonegate School of Advanced Studies, and
Great Idea Grant recipient. “This is an exciting way for our
kids to boost their self-esteem.”
Awarded to educators for classroom projects, Great
Idea Grants provide up to $1,000 each for innovative projects
that encourage and motivate student learning. Since the start of
the grant program in 1986, the Oklahoma City Public Schools
Foundation has funded more than $700,000 in Great Idea Grants.
The gallery featuring the student art exhibits as
well as performances from the Stonegate School Choir will take
place in the interior courtyard of the school and is open to
anyone including students, teachers and parents as well as the
community.
