Principals Named for New John Marshall and New
Eisenhower High Schools
OKLAHOMA CITY – A
veteran district principal and another from outside the district
have been hired to fill the positions of principal at the New
John Marshall and New Eisenhower high schools.
At the regular Oklahoma City Public Schools Board
of Education meeting on Monday, April 3, the Board of Education
approved recommendations from the administrative staff to hire
Trina J. Liles as principal for the New John Marshall High
School and Carole S. Thompson as the principal for the New
Eisenhower High School.
“We are really pleased with the quality of
educators we have selected to open these two new high schools
under the MAPS for Kids plan. Filling these two positions will
help us move forward in two areas. First, it allows the district
to begin hiring teachers and school support staff in
preparation for the coming year. It also allows for these two
new principals to become familiar with their communities and
personnel to begin designing instructional programs that will
best serve the individual communities,” comments Superintendent
Bob Moore.
Liles comes to the district from the Coyle Public
School District where she served as the 7-12 principal and
alternative education principal. At Coyle she also worked in the
capacity of athletic director, Title IX coordinator, dean of
students and teacher. She has 17 years of educational experience
and earned her bachelor’s of science degree in business
education from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in
Chickasha and her master’s in education, business education from
Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.
“I am extremely excited about this opportunity.
It is my goal to establish an outstanding school through
academics, athletics and numerous extra-curricular activities
for the students. My focus is on the stakeholders of the John
Marshall Learning Community and the students that will attend
our school,” says Liles.
As a seven-year veteran with the Oklahoma City
Public Schools District, Thompson most recently served as the
principal of Hoover Middle School. Prior to that she served as
an assistant principal at Taft Middle School and a teacher at
Northeast Academy for Health Sciences and Engineering. She came
to Oklahoma City from Muskogee.
“I consider it an honor to be selected to serve
as principal of the New Eisenhower High School.
My
commitment and that of the staff I hire will be to prepare all
students for college and university entrance through a focused
development from a professional learning community. Excellence
will be the only option at this great new school,” comments
Thompson.
Thompson earned her bachelor’s of science from
Northeastern State University in Tahlequah and her master’s of
education in educational administration from the University of
Central Oklahoma.
Beginning with the 2006-2007 school year, Hoover
Middle School will close and the New John Marshall High School
will provide instruction for students in grades 6 through 9 and
the Old John Marshall High School for students in grades 6
through 12. When the new John Marshall and Eisenhower high
schools are complete, they will house students in grades 7-12.
