Community Rallies Its Schools to go Back to School
Oklahoma City – Knowing it really does take a village to raise a
child, those in the community around North Highland Math and Science Academy
at 8400 N. Robinson are coming together to help students get ready for
school in a fun way. On Thursday, August 17, community members along
with a group called Effective Transitions are inviting neighborhood children
to North Highland Park near NW 82 and Harvey for a Back-to-School Bash.
“They’re going to have food and games as well as a school supply
give-away,” says North Highland Principal Ilene Marshall. “This is the type
of motivation we need for our students and really appreciate the community’s
support.”
Police and Fire officials will also be on hand to address safety
and crime concerns in this area of the city. The event will run from 6:00
to 8:00 p.m. All media is welcome at the event, and since most media
outlets are in this same area, the community welcomes your support as well.
