OKCPS Football Players Return to the
Gridiron with New Uniforms/New AD
Oklahoma City – This week, football players from Oklahoma City’s 10
High Schools return to the playing field to begin practice for the 2006-2007
school year. The new season has a few changes in store for the student
athletes.
All of the schools with organized teams
received new uniforms and equipment to start the season this year. They also
will start with a new person leading OKCPS’ sports programs. Mark Holderbaum
was named new district athletic director. Holderbaum comes from Kansas City
and replaces the retiring Billy Hurte when the school sports seasons begin.
I am really excited about our teams this year,”
says Holderbaum. “Oklahoma City has some exciting changes in where our
players will play and practice, and the new equipment will help our coaches
and athletes tremendously.”
This school year also brings new practice
fields going in at Grant, John Marshall and Douglass High Schools, as well
as a new sports complex being built at the site of the Old Douglass High
School.
Media is encouraged to come meet Athletic
Director Mark Holderbaum and see examples of the new uniforms during
practice at Star Spencer High School at 3001 North Spencer Road on
Friday, August 11 at 10:00 a.m. Please Contact Cordell Jordan at
587-0232 to arrange interviews.
