Attorney Leslie Wright Appointed
to OKCPS Board
OKLAHOMA CITY
– The Oklahoma City Public Schools Board of Education
this week appointed an attorney with school aged children
to fill its vacant District 3 board seat.
“I’m
thrilled to be part of such a wonderful school board. I look
forward to the opportunity to help with MAPS for Kids, be fully
engaged in finding a new superintendent and contribute to all
children in the Oklahoma City Public Schools system receiving a
quality education,” said Leslie
Wright, who will be sworn in at
the regularly scheduled board meeting on Monday, May 1.
Wright stated that she is
especially enthusiastic about beginning her duties as a new
board member because she and her husband purposely chose a house
in the Oklahoma City school district.
They were excited about MAPS for Kids, she said, and hope
to help the district continue on its
path of improvement.
Wright was chosen from three candidates who filed for the
position. “Her combination of professional skills and being a
parent of Oklahoma City Public Schools children make her a good
addition to our strong group. We’re very pleased to have someone
of Leslie’s caliber willing to serve with us on the school
board,” commented Chairman of the Board Cliff Hudson.
This seat was recently vacated by long-time board member
Terri Silver.
Wright is a local attorney specializing in family law. She and
her husband have one child currently attending an Oklahoma City
school and two pre-school age children. Her education includes a
bachelor of science degree from Oklahoma State University, a
masters in education from the University of Central Oklahoma and
a law degree from Oklahoma City University.
