Record Number of OKCPS Teachers Become National
Board Certified
Oklahoma City
–For the first year ever, the number of National Board certified
teachers from Oklahoma City Schools reaches double-digits. 11
OKCPS teachers were certified following a year-long application
process that involves assessment of
the knowledge a teachers possess, and also the actual
demonstration of their skills and professional judgment as
applied daily in the classroom.
“We are very proud of our
National Board certified teachers. Their commitment to achieve
this level of certification falls in line with the district’s
commitment to hire and keep high-quality teachers in our
classrooms,” says Superintendent Bob Moore.
There
are a total of 1,289 teachers in Oklahoma who are National Board
certified, making the state 9th on the list
nationwide. This certification is in addition to the state’s
required certification process.
