Local Church Reaches Out to 8 Oklahoma City
Public Schools
Oklahoma City – In one of the largest back-to-school missions of its
kind, Crossings Community Church at 14600 N. Portland again this year plans
to beautify 8 local schools, and provide school supplies to approximately
300 teachers.
Phase one of the project known as “Live Brightly- Summer of
Service” begins Saturday, August 5, when a group of volunteers begins
cleaning-up, painting and landscaping at the following elementary schools:
Capitol Hill, Eugene Field, Hawthorne, Rockwood, and Shidler, Stand Watie.
Seeworth Academy is also involved in the project.
“This is very exciting for our school.” says
Laura Morris, principal at Capitol Hill Elementary. “The people at Crossings
truly live their missions. The things they are doing for us we would never
be able to have otherwise.”
“We want to help.” says Cindy Rowe with Crossings Community
Church. “We see the need in our schools and know that anything we can do for
our children is a blessing for us.”
Phase two of the mission project includes an
Adopt-A-Teacher program where people in the church community fill a
wish-list of school supplies for approximately 300 teachers in Oklahoma City
Public Schools.
