Classen School of Advanced Studies Announces Application Information

Oklahoma City -- Application forms for the 2006-07 school year for Classen School of Advanced Studies will be available December 1 at the school’s website: www.okcps.org/hs/Classen_SAS. Deadline for applications is January 13, 2006, and notification of acceptance will be made by February 28. 

Classen is a unique public school with two distinct programs.  The International Baccalaureate Program, a world recognized academic program which includes coursework advanced and honors classes, an extended essay and community service.  Students also must complete a series of examinations at the end of their junior and senior years. 

The Visual and Performing Arts Program is a nationally recognized program for the artistically gifted student.  Students complete coursework in a selected fine arts major as well as completing college-preparatory curriculum.  Specific program areas are:  band, dance, drama, guitar, piano strings, visual art and vocal music. 

Classen students in both programs receive numerous awards each year for outstanding performance in academic areas as well as their artistic endeavors.  ACT and SAT scores continue to be among the best in the state. 

Students from throughout the metropolitan area are encouraged to apply.  Legal transfers from school districts outside the Oklahoma City Public School District are required.
