Belle Isle’s Robyn Hilger Named Oklahoma State Teacher of the Year

Robyn Hilger of Belle Isle Enterprise Middle School was named the 2005-2006 Oklahoma State Teacher of the Year during a ceremony at the Oklahoma State Fair today, September 20, 2005. Hilger, a band and orchestra instructor was rendered speechless twice in one year over this outstanding honor – once today and once in May when she was named the Oklahoma City Public Schools’ 2005-2006 Teacher of the Year.

“Being named Teacher of the Year is an incredible accomplishment for any teacher. Not only does an honor like this clearly indicate how dedicated an educator is, but it is also an indication of how well respected a person is in the teaching profession. Robyn’s students and Belle Isle are very lucky to have her as is the district,” said Superintendent Bob Moore, adding, “It’s always a tremendous honor to have one of your own named the top teacher in the state and everyone at the district is very proud of Robyn.”

Hilger has taught at Oklahoma City Public Schools for five years; however, she joined the district as an adjunct teacher one year prior to that. She has a bachelor’s degree in instrumental music education from Oklahoma City
University.
