CLASS PROCEDURES & SYLLABUS Course Study This class will examine the historical period from the 1890s to 1945. Specific course topics will include World War I, the Russian Revolution, Roaring Twenties, the Great Depression, the New Deal and World War II. This course will also focus on the development of geographic skills and an expansion of European geography. 1st Quarter Unit 1 – Map Reading, Locations, Latitude and Longitude, Geography Skills Unit 2 – Spanish-American War, Teddy Roosevelt, Yellow Journalism, Latin and South America, Panama Canal, Naval Power 2nd Quarter Unit 3 – Capitalism & Communism, Economics, Karl Marx, Free Enterprise, Geography of Russia and Middle East Unit 4 – Russian Revolution, Russo-Japanese War, Rasputin, Geography of Southeast Asia 3rd Quarter Unit 5 – World War I, Geography of Europe & Africa, Modern Weaponry, Treaty of Versailles Unit 6 – Roaring Twenties, Al Capone, Flappers, Charles Lindbergh, Racism, Harlem Renaissance, Industrialization and Mass Production, Geography of the United States 4th Quarter Unit 7 – The Great Depression, The Grapes of Wrath, Okies, Stock Market Crash of 1929, Review of Economics & Capitalism, The Rise of World Dictators Unit 8 – Adolf Hitler, The Holocaust, World War II, Pearl Harbor, D-Day, The Atomic Bomb, The Creation of the United Nations, Cold War
Grades and Evaluation A 90-100 B 80-89 C 70-79 D 60-69 F 59 and below Students’ evaluation grades are based on homework assignments, class assignments, quizzes, exams, projects and presentations.

Classroom Procedures 1. Take your seat quietly. 2. Write your assignment in your agenda for the day. 3. Complete the warm-up exercise 4. Raise your hand before talking. 5. Please sharpen pencil prior to class starting or after the lesson is complete 6. The teacher will dismiss the class.
Materials Students will be required to have one paper folder with prongs. All assignments will be turned in using this folder, which will be kept in Mr. Ford’s room. Students may use pencils, blue or black ink pens only.
Appointments Students may schedule appointments a day in advance to meet before or after school to work on projects, homework or receive clarification on assignments |
