6th Grade Science - Dan Covey

Welcome Parents and Students!

You have reached the website of Mr. Covey, 6th grade science teacher.  Your child will experience a fun and exciting year in science.  My science class is guided by the Oklahoma PASS standards. We will be studying a lot of things and working very hard. My class is both challenging and fun for my students and it will leave them wanting to come back. I'm more of a guide than a teacher. Teachers tend to give answers to questions and I will rarely do that. I believe my job is to teach people to find answers. Our world is changing so fast that no one can be the expert on all of science so I don't try to be. I ask lots of questions, and I don't have all the answers, but what I will do is help students to learn to explore for answers to questions and problems. Many students will find this frustrating at times because they will be required to think and give it 100% every day, but in the end they will feel so much better knowing that they discovered the answers on their own.
