Frequently Confused Words

We will have five spelling/definition tests spread out over each semester.  Each test will include 10 words which are commonly confused with other words or misspelled.  Dates may be subject to change.

1st Semester

List # 1:  Quiz date Sept. 9/10

1. accept-verb-receive

2. except-preposition-other than

3. affect-verb-to influence

4. effect-noun-result

5. all ready-pronoun and adjective-prepared

6. already-adverb-by this time

7. allusion-noun-indirect reference

8. illusion-noun-faulty perception

9. ascent-noun-upward movement

10. assent-noun-agreement

 

List #2: Quiz date Sept. 29/30
