What is Bear PAWS?

A Brief Explanation for Parents

Bear PAWS is a second year program at John Marshall.  We are very excited about this part of our schedule.  this endeavor grew from concerns that there are certain needs of our student body that weren't being met.
One concern involved the need to provide an adult advocate at the school for each one of our students.  Students change classes and teachers every year.  We hope through the PAWS program to provide a continuous resource person for your student throughout their time at John Marshall.
Other concerns we hope to address through these small student groups involve some academic areas and attendance.  PAWS will have an organized and specific curriculum, which will include topics such as Time Management, Study Skills, Careers, and Educational Planning.

What is Bear PAWS?

A Brief Explanation for Students
Bear PAWS is in its second year at John Marshall.  PAWS is designed to help our students in three general ways:

bulletYour PAWS advisor will be a resource person for you throughout your high school years.  Your advisor will be a caring adult advocate to help you with the many tasks you face as a student at John Marshall.

bulletPAWS will have an organized curriculum that will work on areas of student concern such as Time Management, Study Skills, Careers, and Educational Planning.  Don't worry, though, PAWS has NO HOMEWORK!

bulletThis meeting time will allow us to take care of some school business and paper work.

Your PAWS group will be made up of other members of your grade and will meet at least thirteen times this year.  The regularly scheduled day for PAWS is Thursday unless it is a holiday.  Then PAWS will meet the day before the holiday.
