THIS IS AN "A" WEEK SO FRIDAY IS AN "A" DAY

REMEMBER THAT SCHOOL WILL BE IN SESSION ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 18th, TO MAKE UP A SNOW DAY

GRADUATION -   For those of you who may not be aware, there are several conflicts with the May 10 date for graduation.  The goal is to make sure that the maximum number of Classen seniors are able to participate in graduation.  The conflicts on May 10 include:  district rowing competition to qualify for nationals and scholarship opportunities; state tennis tournament; baseball tournament; evening performance of this year's musical, The Wiz; the Jewish Sabbath.  The result of the meeting last night was a tentative date change for graduation to May 21, at 3:30 PM.  Dr.  Sally Cole realizes that this time would be very difficult  for the large number of Classen's working parents.  After the meeting last night Dr. Cole  offered to check with the Cox Convention center to see if there are alternate dates for graduation.    She is negotiating with Cox at the time of the writing of this email.  One possible alternative would be Sunday, May 11 (Mother's Day) at 3:00 PM.

**ATTENTION 8TH GRADE PARENTS**

The 8th grade Bridging Committee had our first meeting with Ms. Allen (the 8th grade sponsor) last week, and we would love to have more people join the committee!  We still need somebody to Chair the “Decorations / Stage Design” committee and the “After-Party” committee.  Also, both of those committees could stand to have helpers as well.  If you are interested in helping plan and execute the 8th Grade Bridging Ceremony, please contact Christi Hill-Savage at Christi@SWATokc.com for details.

Job and volunteer opportunities for our teens from Classen. I am currently heading up Educataion for City Arts Center. We have Spring Break and Summer Camps I need to staff teacher assistants for them. I'd love to get students interrested in art --but I am more interrested in reliability, enthusiasm with the kids, and strong personalities. I'll have performance based camps,we are partnering with the Dead Center Film festival folks and doing tons of art fundamentals, clay, photography and mixed media.
I will be interviewing students from 10-12 on Saturday Feb 16 for Spring Break/Summer possitions. Students can e-mail me Lsullivan@cityartscenter.org to set up an interview or let me know about your interrest if you cannot attend that meeting. (Quick and painless --I promise)
Later that afternoon Abi Chodosh (her daughter is in the guitar program)is teaching a teen workshop with Natural Dyes from 1-3 for $20. (So I'll be in the building later as well.)
I know some of you Jr's & Sr's need volunteer hours --please consider City Arts Center. You can call me at 951-0000 x14.
