THIS IS A "B" WEEK SO FRIDAY IS A "B" DAY

8TH GRADE FUNDRAISER
Two weeks ago, the 8th graders began their fundraiser for their class.  We have had a rather poor turnout this year – with only 14 students (out of 141) participating.  Last year, we had more than twice that many students take part, and we made over $2,000.  It looks like we’re not even going to clear $800 at this point.  I know that you are probably fundraised-out (so am I), but if you happen to have an order form at home that your student forgot to turn in this week, I’ll still accept late orders through next Wednesday, September 13th.  Orders may be dropped off in my room (B202) or in my mailbox.

A special thanks to those of you who have already turned in an order form.  We appreciate your support.

Sincerely,
Jennifer Robinson

Open House will be Tuesday night, September 12, from 6-8p.m. The PTSA will have it's annual Picnic on the Grounds from 5-5:45p.m. We will be selling pizza for $1.00/slice and the IB students will be selling beverages.  Again, any help will be appreciated.

The PTSA will have tables set up inside the door to sell memberships, pass out the directories and a table for pick up of the preordered sweatshirts and t-shirts. T-shirts and sweatshirts will also be available for purchase that evening.

Classroom visitation will begin at 6:00 PM.  Your student should have brought home an informational letter with their class schedule on the back.  You will go the their 1A Class at 6:00 for 10 minutes; 5 minutes between classes; 2A at 6:15 and so forth.  As you can see, time is limited so please move quickly between classes so the teachers can start on time.  Don't be tardy!!!

HAUNT THE HOLES - Classen's 5th annual golf tournament will be held on October 28.th at 8:00 AM at Silverhorn Golf Club.    SAVE THE DATE.  More information will be forthcoming as it becomes available.  Talk it up so we will have a great turnout. It is not to early to start putting your team together and considering being a sponsor.  Forms will be available in the main office very soon.

INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE INFORMATIONAL MEETING - Thursday, September 21:  6:00 Middle School; 7:00 High School in the auditorium

STUDENT COUNCIL - There are 14 on the ballot seeking three slots to represent the class of 2012 on the school-wide student council. We meet on fridays just after school. H.S. and M.S. meet together under the excellent leadership of officers who have rec'd basic and advanced leadership training during the last two summers from the OK assc. of Student Councils (OASC). Regarding elections, it is a full ballot (11 filed for Pres., 9 for Vice, 4 for Sec., 7 for Trea. 2 for Historian). The 6th graders will vote in their social studies classes w/Mr. Wells on Mon. & Tues.
With this number, I anticipate some close races, if so, run-offs would be Wed. & Thurs. (A & B days). Student Council representatives for each class (5 reps for H.S. classes and 3 reps. for M.S.) receive a packet w/a copy of the by-laws and usually serve on two committees, which could be the student store, Spring Fair, M.S. Fall Ball, etc. As a class officer, the activities and regularity of the exc. bd. will be guided by the class sponsor. I'm sure that Mr. Wells would allow the candidates to speak to their civics classmates, if asked. There are no restrictions on the type of campaigning (or number) i.e. posters, flyers, buttons, etc. Ms. Burkes
