Looking for a summer activity for your kids?  OKC Parks and Recreation has a summer swim team program at some of its city pools.  Tim Dowd (Classen, 06) is coaching a team at Macklanburg Pool at 116th and Stratford (Just east of Hoover Middle School, Just west of Penn) this summer.  He is a three -year Red Cross-certified OKC lifeguard.  Practices are Tues through Fri, 5:10 p.m. to 6 p.m.  The cost is only $20 for the summer!  You provide your own suit, goggles and cap (if desired).  Meets are against other OKC Pools, Mustang and Yukon and are on Thurs nights and Sat mornings at various locations.  It is a fun low-key competition which will improve your child's strength, stroke, endurance in the pool and help with goal-setting, not to mention the exercise!  If you live closer to Will Rogers Pool, there is also a team there. (There may also be a team at other city pools.)   It is open to all kids through high school age.  They must be able to swim the length of the pool.  You can join even if you will miss some practices or meets due to camps, vacations, etc.  It's fun and great exercise!  Come and try it and bring a friend!

Correction on class of 2010: Pres. Joe Ward; Vice. Nathan McCartney; Sec. Caty Townsend; Trea. Stephanie Phan; Hist. Seanette Ting; Reps. George Malatinszky, Erin Murray, Sara Sharp.

Junior parents 2005-2006:

In May all juniors participated in a ?Packaging Yourself for College? presentation during English classes.  This presentation included information on college admissions, college scholarships, college financial aid, admissions testing, etc.  Each student was given a booklet which contains much important information for both student and parent.

Please ask your student to share the information as there are several tasks the student can complete over the summer to ensure preparedness for the college admissions process which will begin this fall.

Some special things to note:
1)  Keep track of awards and honors, 9-12 (resume).
2)  Volunteer work is important (resume)!
3)  Work is important (resume).
4)  Colleges DO look at GPA and ACT/SAT scores.

If you have questions, please do not hesitate to call LeAnn Brady at 556-5070 or e-mail at lbbrady@okcps.org.  She will return to work August 2, 2006.
