Our first down payment of $100 is due to Ms. Cornell by November 13, just a week away.  If you have any questions please e-mail Ms. Cornell at sjstorey-cornell@okcps.org or leave her a message at 556-5070 and she’ll get back with you!

Close Up is a program run by the Close Up Foundation that allows students to go to DC and see the federal government up close and personal.  The kids will meet with our Congressional Representatives, Supreme Court Justices, they will tour the area.  There is also an Oklahoma Close Up that is here in the state.  We have such a great need for fundraising that we made a club.  We are in need of great fundraising ideas.  We need to raise a lot of money so any ideas thrown our way would be great!

Only 2 weeks left until the Pizza & Pops event.   Purchase your tickets for family and friends this week.  Get tickets from Mr. Pourtorkan or any orchestra student.   Ticket must be paid for when you get them.

The Jazz Lab is located at 100 East 5th Street in Edmond .

ATTN: ALL CLASSEN S.A.S. PARENTS:

Have you ever wanted to provide a small token of your appreciation to
those special Classen S.A.S. faculty member(s) who have expanded your
child's intellect, talent and/or creativity; way beyond your greatest
expectations?
Have you ever felt like a simple, "Gee, . . . Thanks, Teach!" at
Parent/Teacher conference time, doesn't truly express your heartfelt
gratitude for how our great faculty seems to always bring out our kids'
best?
Have you ever wanted to provide something "tangible" to our Classen
Faculty that says, "We're partners with you in this endeavor! And you
have our support and gratitude for making this school a truly special
place!
Well, if you answered, YES,  to any of the above, then I want to
cordially invite you to an upcoming meeting of the Classen Teacher
Appreciation Committee (C.T.A. Committee). The next planning meeting
for the CTA is scheduled for the following:

What: CTA Committee Mtg.-To plan for the December Teacher Appreciation
Activities
When: Thursday, Nov. 16th.  - 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.
Where: Java Dave's Coffee House-Address: 10 NE 10th Street
(Between Broadway and I-235 on the southside of 10th St.)

In past years, it has been the CTA's mission to do several things right
before school lets out for the Christmas holiday that hopefully says
more than, "Gee . . . Thanks Teach!"

We've done several things during the last weeks of both the fall and
spring semesters, culminating with a luncheon. These events have been
very well recievied by our super Classen faculty and staff (Perhaps
some of you have contributed either side dishes, beverages or deserts
for past luncheons, and we hope we can count on you again this year!)

Besides contributing food items for the luncheon, the CTA Committee is
searching for volunteers who can contribute in other ways.  If there is
any way you can help with any of the following, then we'd certainly
like to have you attend the upcoming CTA meeting:

-People who can purchase and/or setup decorations for the luncheon
and/or other events during Teacher Appreciation Week (Luncheon is
scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 20th.)

-People who can serve food and/or help clean up during or after the
luncheon. (We have a great time doing this!!! Come if you only have 30
minutes, or the entire time!)

-People who can contact local businesses for small donations (i.e.
Movie passes, Two-for-ones at restaurants, carpet cleaning-discounts,
book-store coupons, computer store freebies, car wash/oil change
coupons, etc.) Obviously, we probably can't get something for every
staff or faculty member, but we draw names out of hat for whatever
prize items we can gather.

-People who can get cheap (or perhaps, free!) paper products (i.e.paper
plates, plastic wear and napkins, and/or food or beverage items).

Other misc. duties (I'm forgetting them at the moment, . . . but
there's always some 'lil thing to get done).

In conclusion,

For those of you that have helped in the past with Teacher Appreciation
Activities, not only do we say "Thanks," but we hope we can count on
you again this year.

For those of you who haven't had the opportunity to be involved with
giving our Classen Faculty and Staff a well-deserved "Atta-Boy, or
Atta-Girl!," then I invite you to join us for the next CTA Meeting on
the 16th at Java Daves.

Comets Rule!
