Hello Classen Parents...Again!

Last week, I sent an email to you requesting your answer to a question posed by the  Strategic Planning group at Classen SAS.  After receiving comments at tonight's PTSA meeting, it seems that in creating a message that wasn't so specific that it implied an answer, our group arrived at a question that was so vague, most of you didn't know how to answer!  So let's try this again:

In order to arrive at a few central strategies to steer Classen's path, we want your input on what you think the school should be.  Please think from a broad viewpoint that includes the role of the school in the community and society as well as the role it plays in our lives and the lives of our children.

If you have already responded and would now answer differently, just send me another email.  My email address is shawnabeast1@cox.net.  Be as honest as possible in your response - I will submit your answers without any name or email identification.

Thanks to all of those who have already responded and to those of you who now may be able to!

Shawn Abernathy,
PTSA President

CARPOOL NEEDED - I would like to post a need to set up a carpool in the MidDel area in the weekly email. Basically, I can drive in the morning and need someone that would be willing to pick up in the afternoon. I live just west of Tinker near Bryant and 44th. I can be reached at hm-672-8115 or cell 206-1649.

Thanks a million,

Tracy Hayes

Come see Classen?s own Brenda Williams in the Oklahoma Children?s Theatre production of And Then They Came for Me:  Remembering the World of Anne Frank.  This multimedia production weaves videotaped interviews of Holocaust survivors Ed Silverberg and Eva Schloss with live actors recreating scenes from their lives during World War II.  The production combines oral history, personal remembrances, and dramatic action in a way that offers older children an exceptional opportunity to personally relate to the rise and fall of the Nazi movement in relation to people their own age.  (This production is not recommended for children under the age of 10.)  Performances are scheduled for October 19 through 29, 2005.  Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 10:00 a.m.; Saturdays at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; and Sundays at 2:00 p.m.  Performances will be in Oklahoma Children?s Theatre?s new home base, the Kirkpatrick Auditorium, in the Fine Arts Center on the Oklahoma City University campus.  For reservations, call the box office at 951-0011 Tuesday-Friday between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.

YEARBOOK AND PICTURE NEWS

1) Picture retakes are scheduled for October 28th. Any seniors who have not
been photographed will have to be
photographed at that time.

2) Group picture day has been set for Friday, November 4. All clubs will
need to be photographed at that time. If you
sponsor any organization, or are an officer in one, please help us organize
your members for this undertaking. All
organizations must be recognized by the school and have a faculty sponsor.
Any specific requests for group picture day
should be addressed to Mr. Aiden Poole at bapoole@okcps.org.

3) The Orbit Staff is proud to announce this year's yearbook theme, "A
Different Perspective," which reflects not only the
unique character of our school, but the book's unique panoramic design.
Josten's will begin mailing on their Direct
Solutions yearbook sales program at the end of October. This is the only
way to preorder Classen Orbit. The Josten's
flyer is very specific and provides several options for ordering and
payment. Order early! All those who wait until May to
buy their yearbook will pay a $5 penalty and will have no personalization
or add-ons available to them.
