Classen News Imaginary Word of the Week:

Jurkey-Dehydrated Thanksgiving leftovers

Happy Thanksgiving

Only 3 weeks left before FINALS !!

Are you ready??

Congratulations to 8th Grader Dante Brooks for winning the Wii & Wii Fit at PTSA Bingo last Thursday night!!

Over 140 Classen families, teachers and administrators joined together for a fun evening of lasagna,  brownies and friendly competition for really cool prizes. Prizes included gift cards galore ( iTunes, sonic, AMC and more!!), frozen turkeys, and other surprises. All the money raised will go towards teacher classroom needs.

Many thanks to the many people who helped with PTSA Bingo, including Amy Woolum, chairman; the Hendrix clan for food/other donations; Jennifer Puckett, prize wrangler; Ann Matheny for many things; and all of our "celebrity" Bingo callers-teachers, students and administrators. Many others donated prizes, and helped with set-up/clean-up. You are GREAT, Classen!!

Four students made the Jazz-All-State Choir.  800 students audition for this chorus from around the state and only 16 students              are chosen We have 25% of the choir!!!!

They are: Claire Deveney, Marshall Wade, James Foster and Elvie Ellis.

Elvie Ellis had the top score for the basses and will also get to perform with the All-State Jazz Band at OMEA in Tulsa. Congratulations!

What if Classen earned a penny every time you searched the Internet?  Well, now it can!      GoodShop.com is a new online shopping mall which donates up to 37 percent of each purchase to your favorite cause! Hundreds of great stores including Amazon, Target, Gap, Best Buy, eBay, Macy's and Barnes & Noble have teamed up with GoodShop and every time you place an order, youʼll be supporting your favorite cause.
Just go to www.goodsearch.com and be sure to enter Classen (and then click "verify") as the charity you want to support. And, be sure to spread the word!

GoodSearch.com is a Yahoo-powered search engine that donates half its advertising revenue, about a penny per search, to the charities its users designate. Use it just as you would any search engine, get quality search results from Yahoo, and watch the donations add up!

Class of 2014 t-shirts are currently on sale- order forms were distributed last week in your English class- Deadline for shirt order forms and money will be Monday November 24-- please see Mrs. Barmann in room A315 or one of  your class officers if you have any questions or need an order form.

-Parents of Sophomores whose family income is less than $50,000:  Please donʼt forget to apply for Oklahoma Promise (previously known as OHLAP) before June 30, 2009.   For more information or to apply, go to www.okpromise.org.

-For a great on-line presentation about college financial aid and FAFSA (free application for student aid), visit http://elearning.makingitcount.com/start/default.asp.  This is great for parents of seniors, but also informational for parents of younger students in preparing them for their college financial planning.
