DANCE THEORY II – 2007-08

SUPPLIES REQUIRED:

1.      One (1) new, blank VHS videotape.

2.      Journal book, notebook or folder.

3.      Five (5) new, blank audio-cassette tapes or audio CDs.

4.      Appropriate dance clothes as required by Dance Dept. guidelines.

 

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:          

1.      Participation in the Senior Dance Recital, Wed., 2 April 2008 at 7:00 pm.

2.      Choreography & performance of a senior solo in the Senior Dance Recital.

a.      Length minimum: 2 and ½ minutes.

b.      Length maximum: 5 minutes.

3.      Choreography of a group dance consisting of at least three dancers.

a.      Length minimum: 3 and ½ minutes.

b.      Length maximum: 8 minutes.

4.      Participation, as a dancer, in at least one other senior group piece.

5.      Display costume designs for dances choreographed at Senior Recital.

6.      Display set and lighting designs for dances choreographed at Senior Recital.

7.      Written composition on process of choreographing each dance piece for

Senior Recital. Minimum length: 2 ½  pages for each dance.

8.      Complete journal on class work and process of choreographing.

9.      Complete a dance portfolio including a videotape, resume and photos.

            8.   The life of professional dance artists and other related fields.

Issue Your Dance Resume. Read Chapters 1-3 & 6.

                        1st draft resume’ and cover letters due Tues. 28 Aug.

                        College folders/college info. Due Tues. 28 Aug.

                        ACT Oct test application.

 

Aug. 27-31:    Go over drafts with students. Rewrites due Tues. Sept. 4

 

Sept. 4-7:       Go over rewrites and make corrections.

Corrections due Tues. Sept. 11

                        Compile college & scholarship deadlines.

                        Begin completion of college applications.

                        Begin work on essays for scholarships.

                        ACT Oct. test application completed.

 

Sept. 10-14:   Rewrites due. Complete and put into final form

Final cover letter and resume’ due Tues. Sept. 18
