DRESS CODE
Classen
SAS Dance Department maintains a strict dress code for all dance classes. All
students must adhere to the dress requirements for each class. Students failing
to comply with the class dress code will be penalized. Noncompliant students
will not be allowed to participate in dance activities for that day and will
receive an F (0) grade for each day of noncompliance. Dress requirements are as
follows:
Female students:
1. Solid colored leotard.
2. Black or pink, footless or convertible
tights.
3. Pink leather (no canvas) Bloch split sole
ballet shoes, pink elastic straps.
4. All students must have new shoes fitted by Ms. Kelly before sewing on
elastics
or
wearing the shoes. Leave the shoes in the box until Ms. Kelly checks them.
5. Elastic straps must be sewn on shoes.
6. Hair must be secured back out of face &
off shoulders.
7. No jewelry.
Male students:
1. Solid colored leotard. A solid white T-shirt
or tank shirt can be substituted for
the leotard.
2. Black footless or convertible tights.
3. Black leather (no canvas) Bloch ballet shoe.
4. All students must have new shoes fitted by Ms. Kelly before sewing on
elastics
or
wearing the shoes. Leave the shoes in the box until Ms. Kelly checks them.
5. Elastic straps must be sewn on shoes.
6. Dance belt. REQUIRED for all male students.
7. Hair must be secured back out of face &
off shoulders.

PRODUCTION
DONATION (FEES)
To
help cover the expense of costumes and production costs, we ask that all
students involved in any dance department production make an annual production donation of $25.00. Please make this
donation by a
ATTENDANCE POLICY (based
on 21 classes per nine weeks)
1. Students must attend and participate in 80%
of scheduled classes for that nine
weeks to be
eligible to receive an A grade for that quarter.
2. Students must attend and participate in 50%
of scheduled classes for that nine
weeks to be
eligible to receive a passing grade for that quarter.
3. Students with a doctor’s letter diagnosing a
serious illness or injury that
prevents
participation in 25% (5), or more, of scheduled classes for one nine
weeks will be
given the option to transfer into a special “modified” section of
that particular
dance class.
4. All students enrolled in FAM II, FAM
BALLET IVA are required to perform in The Nutcracker. All
students enrolled in Modern Dance & FAM I classes are required to
perform in the spring Dance Extravaganza! (Ballet IB,
Ballet IIB, Ballet IIIB and General Dance 6,7 & 8
class performance participation will be decided by the individual class &
teacher.) Every student’s participation in these performances will be evaluated
and graded as a representation of the student’s acquired learning and progress
for the year. Student’s who do not participate in the performance and all dress
rehearsals will receive a below average grade for that nine weeks.
